Battle Of The Business Concludes Today

After the Scrabble tournament held at the Jamestown YMCA and the women's miniature golf event at Pro Putt in Warren, powerhouses Cummins (Large Division) and Frewsburg Central School (Small Division) lead the way in the Y's 25th annual Battle of the Businesses.

Cummins point count is 1,210 while Frewsburg tallied a 833-point total after Friday's events.

Southwestern Central School District's Ann Marie Anderson and Paula Kirsch tiled the board with the most points (344) in the Scrabble event for the Large Division. They outscored the Jamestown Teachers Association who ended the evening in the final round with 247 points followed by SKF Aeroengine for third.

In the small division, FCA Packaging took the word win with 299 points compared to second place finisher Matco Tools with 263 points. Jamestown Bar Association/City Court scored third.

In a rainy night of miniature golf, the large division women's Truck-Lite team of Barb Crawford, Wendy Olson, Ann Kanoff and Cathy Vavala scored the highest points against second place finisher JTA. SKF got the 90 points for third.

For the small division golf event, Moore & Myott, LLP & Allied Fire Protection won the event receiving 100 points for their overall battle score. In second place was Northwest Saving Bank and The Post-Journal.

The last Battle events today will be the 2-mile run/walk at the Lakewood Beach at 9 a.m. and the five competitions at Camp Onyahsa beginning at noon - sharpshooting (archery and pistols), paddling, bean bag toss, Sur'Y'vor IV Challenge, and the karaoke event for bonus points.

Participants are asked to refer to the Battle schedule or their team captain for specific event times at Camp Onyahsa.
