Brett Adam Grant, 51, of Waterbury, Conn., formerly of Jamestown, died unexpectedly on Monday (Sept. 10, 2012), in his home.
He was born Feb. 8, 1961, in Warren, Pa., the son of James Stanley and Marion E. Grant Battle.
A 1979 graduate of Jamestown High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force from Aug. 27, 1979, to March 12, 1990, as an aerospace propulsion specialist. Following his military career, he worked for over 20 years as an aerospace technician at Pratt & Whitney Engine Co. in Connecticut, until the time of the plant's closing in 2012. He then became self-employed as a small engine repairman.

While in Jamestown, he was a member of the North Main Street Church of God. He loved people, and enjoyed karate, working out, tinkering with machinery, and was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Fraser Grant, whom he married Aug. 7, 1999, in Waterbury, Conn.; his mother, Marion Battle, and his grandmother, Victoria Grant, both of Jamestown; a stepson: Jamie Fraser of Halifax, Nova Scotia; a brother, James Anthony Grant of Jamestown; two sisters: Tina Grant of Buffalo and Amy Lynch of Jamestown; six stepbrothers: Nathan Battle of South Carolina, Earl Battle of Massachusetts, Eugene Battle of Missouri, and Fred, Ned Jr. and Gary Battle, all of Jamestown; two stepsisters: Joyce Brown and Patricia Fraser, both of South Carolina; two aunts: Naomi Chisholm of Sugar Grove, Pa. and Louise Stanley of New York City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Ned Battle; an uncle, Raymond Hicks; and by an aunt, Edith Stanley.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. Pastor Beth Whitehead of the North Main Street Church of God will officiate. Burial will be in Soldiers Circle of Lake View Cemetery.
