KENNEDY- Marcella Geane McConnell, 75, of Route 83, South Dayton, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, in the home of her daughter Lori Steward and husband Ken in Kennedy, while under the care of Hospice.
She was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Jamestown the daughter of the late Axel Ivar and Florence Kelly Co-lander.
Marcella was a 1956 graduate of Pine Valley Central. Following school she went on to work for Proto Tool in Jamestown. After the birth of her children, she was a homemaker and later became the food service manager for 30 years at Pine Valley Central School, retiring in 2006. For many years she had also been the cook for the Cherry Creek Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Marcella was raised in the Methodist church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters: Lisa McConnell of South Dayton and Lori Steward and husband Ken of Kennedy; five grandchildren: Garrett Hansen, Kaleb Steward, Kendell Steward, Sadie Steward and Grady Steward; her mother-in-law, Mildred McConnell of Batavia; and two sisters: Marilyn Milliman and husband Merle of Fairport, N.Y. and Eleanor Bennett and her husband Sam of Cassadaga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. McConnell, whom she married Sept. 15, 1957, and who preceded her on June 10, 2003, and two sisters: Onlee Danker and Carol Laska.
As per Marcella's wishes, there will be no visitation observed. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Sept. 15, 2012, in the Villenova Cemetery in South Dayton. The Rev. Rodney Mileham will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted to the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home in Randolph.
