Mann’s Hat Trick Lifts Bears Over Cougars

SINCLAIRVILLE -Frewsburg's Sam Mann had a great outing on Friday as the Bears (2-0) shut out Cassadaga Valley, 6-0, in Division 2 girls soccer.

With 22 minutes in the first half, Mann scored her first goal, assisted by Jenessa Annis. Five minutes later, Nikki Weber found the net with the assist by Mann.

In the second half, Annis scored just one minute in off an assist by Reyanne Strong and 10 minutes later, Mann got her second of the game as Annis assisted. With two minutes left, Karlee Foti hit the net with the assist by Annie Berg and Mann completed the hat trick with an unassisted goal.

Tessa Alianell got the win for the Bears, making two saves.

Brittany Bellinger had 23 saves for Frewsburg (0-1, 1-3)

FRANCZAK SHINES

SILVER CREEK - Led by Emma Franczak, Maple Grove (3-0) scored all of its goals in the first half on Friday afternoon in Division 2 girls soccer Friday night.

Franczak had three goals as the Red Dragons drubbed Silver Creek (0-2), 6-0.

Franczak scored the first goal from Alex Novotny at six minutes followed by Novotny three minutes later and then Franczak at 22 minutes from Paige Sirwatka.

A minute later it was Franczak from Jordan Ahlstrom and Sirwatka tallied from 32 minutes from Katie Thorson and Mikaela Swanson from Sirwatka at 37 minutes.

Franczak has scored four goals, Sirwatka and Novotny three each and Swanson added her first goal this season.

Lauren Nickerson made four saves for her third shutout for the Red Dragons and Jamie Hehir had 11 saves for Silver Creek.
