Jewel M. Lanphere

FALCONER - Jewel M. Lanphere, 86, of Falconer died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at WCA Hospital.

She was born April 13, 1926, in Kennedy, the daughter of the late Oran and Edna B. Huckleberry Rounds.

A Chautauqua County resident all of her life, she had attended Kennedy and Ross Mills Schools.

She was formerly em-ployed as a cook and food service person at the former Gretchen's Kitchen, Hotel Jamestown, Mike's Tavern and Christie's Catering in Gerry, from 1979 until her retirement in 1998. She had also assisted her father with operation of the family dairy farm in Ross Mills and was an assembler at American Furniture in Fal-coner.

Jewel was a former member of the Happy Val-ley 4-H Club, Kennedy Home Bureau and Poland Center Sunshine Club.

Wife of 43 years to the late John Winfield Lan-phere, whom she married May 24, 1952, and who died Nov. 8, 1995; mother of David O. Burch of Dolgeville, Maria Johnson of Falconer, and the late Di-ane Lanphere (1964); grandmother of Christina Miller, ShyAnne Wood, Joshua and Donnann Burch; great-grandmother of eight; and sister of Rena Nunn and the late Caroline Beckerink, Erma Jean Schnars, Harold and Paul Rounds.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sin-clairville. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Fal-coner.
