SANBORN - The Jamestown Community College women's soccer team visited Niagara County CC on Thursday and the Jayhawks evened their season record at 1-1 with a dominating 5-1 NJCAA Region 3 Division III victory, thanks to a four-goal performance by Ashley Skelly.
Skelly put JCC on top, 2-0, with goals at the 20 minute-mark of the first half as Jenny Peterson assisted and again eight minutes later with Andrea Washington getting the assist.
In the second half, Skelly continued her torrid pace, scoring two more goals with Jill Slawiak assisting on the first one at the six-minute mark and Nicole Mahoney on the second 15 minutes in.
Niagara County trimmed the lead to 4-1 at 29 minutes as Samantha Costanzo scored an unassisted goal, but Mahoney found the net for JCC as Skelly assisted with five minutes to go.
In total, the Jayhawks produced 28 shots on goal to eight for their opponent.
"We learned a lot today," said JCC coach Dana Shelters. "The girls are starting to understand things better. We had a great week of practice and just dominated the game."
JCC goalkeepers Haley Sigular and Emily Pleszewski each stopped four shots on goal in the winning effort.
JCC's next game is Saturday as the Jayhawks travel to Broome CC.
