Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday
On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike the Minister Creek Trail off Route 666 in Forest County. The eight-mile loop trail, with giant boulders, a pristine stream and flat-rock overlook, is one of the most popular trails on the Allegheny National Forest. Veteran Services Now Being Offered
Steve E. McCord, Cattaraugus County Veterans Service Agency director, and Kevin Haynes, the agency's service officer, will be available at several Cattaraugus County locations in September. Site visits include 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Gowanda American Legion; 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Randolph American Legion post; 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at The Pines in Machias; and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Franklinville town clerk's office. McCord is also available from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays in the Cattaraugus County office building in Little Valley. Office hours in Olean are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except legal holidays.
Water Protest Set For Thursday
Residents of southwester New York and northwestern Pennsylvania are invited to an educational seminar and informational session on the dangers to clean drinking water that deep-injection frack waste disposal wells pose. A public protest will take place Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Bear Lake Fire Hall. The seminar will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Corry High School Auditorium. Melissa Troutman of the Mountain Watershed Association, Jill Kriesky of the Center for Healthy Environments and Communities, and Erika Staff of PennEnvironment will speak.
Frewsburg Board To Meet Thursday
FREWSBURG - The Frewsburg Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the superintendent's office to vote on the Faculty Association's contract. The public is welcome to attend.
AMVETS To Hold Fundraiser Dinner
AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Post 726 is having a spaghetti dinner to benefit the scholarship programs. The dinner will be held at the IRA Lou Veterans Club, Fluvanna Avenue on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. The dinner is $7 for adults and children under 8 are $4. Children under 4 are free. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, bread, salad and choice of a homemade dessert.
Bemus Point Board To Meet
The Bemus Point Central School District will meet at 5:15 p.m. Monday in the board room at Maple Grove Junior-Senior High School on Dutch Hollow Road prior to its regularly scheduled board meeting for a public hearing on the district's revised code of conduct. The public is welcome to attend.
