Dale R. Maynard, 58, of Erie, Pa., formerly of James-town, N.Y., passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at home, after an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 28, 1953, in Jamestown, N.Y., to the late Lee and Judith (Newman) Maynard.
Dale attended Chautauqua Central High School and graduated in 1971. He was highway superintendent for the town of Harmony. He also worked as a maintenance supervisor at Heritage Rehab and Nursing in Jamestown, until he retired in 2010.

He was married to Karen (Gunn) Maynard of Erie, Pa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He had a unique sense of humor and brought laughter to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Karen; son, Trevor Maynard and wife, Dana, of Clymer, N.Y.; stepson, Tyler Stevens of Erie, Pa.; daughters: Bobbie Opalecky and husband, Frank, of Winston Salem, N.C., Megan Greene and Ellen Santiago and husband, Melvin, both of Panama, N.Y.; grandchildren: Tanner Maynard and Albrey Singer, Zachary and Aidan Opalecky, Makenzie Greene, Alana and Cecilia Santiago and Devon and Jasmine Santiago; brothers: Terry Maynard and wife, Gwyn, of Yakima, Wash.; Patrick Maynard and wife, Tammy, of Ash-ville, N.Y.; and Bob Maynard of Clymer, N.Y.; sisters: Cindy Maynard of Yakima, Wash., and Sheila Johnson of Stover, Mo.; and also several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, N.Y.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family requests donations be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation in Erie, Pa.
