Wake Up! Productions and The Spire Theater have announced Preach Freedom will return to Jamestown to conduct a drum and dance workshop on Thursday.
Preach Freedom, drummer for Rusted Root and frontman of One World Tribe, will lead the sessions alongside One World Tribe founder Kennedy Thompson and African dance and modern movement instructor Melissa Fields. Together, the three will deliver a high-energy and dynamic learning experience for all ages.
Participants will explore the rhythm, movement and techniques involved in both traditional and contemporary African drum and dance. Following the workshops, Preach Freedom will perform with local talent Marla Harris and Steve Davis for an "unplugged" performance, all to take place in The Spire of Jamestown's Studio Metro.

Preach Freedom last visited in June, when he headlined the Spire's Jump-Start Summer Showcase. In addition to the spiritual, blues, jazz and rock 'n' roll influences in his music, the traditional drum techniques taught in the workshop will be showcased in his performance as well.
"I'm a community activist, and I'm grateful for this opportunity to reach out to the people of Jamestown," Preach Freedom said of his coming visit. His music is enjoyed by fans of all genres, and carries a positive and encouraging message drawn from personal experience and life.
Tickets for each workshop are $7; the drum session will start at 6 p.m. and dance will start at 7 p.m. Admission to both sessions is $10.
