Robert E. Kendall

GOWANDA - Robert E. Kendall, 86, a retired custodian for Pine Valley Central School, where he worked for eight years, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at Lake Shore Hospital in Irving.

He was born April 26, 1926, in LeRoy, N.Y., the son of the late Lester and Abbey (Miller) Kendall.

Robert worked 41 years at the Peter Cooper's Glue Factory in Gowanda, N.Y. He was a member of the Dayton Historical Society, and a past member of the Dayton Grange. Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, Jeanne L. (Royce) Matteson of South Dayton, N.Y.; a sister, Doris Felt of Gowanda, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Gert Kendall of Orchard Park, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his spouse, Elinor M. (Nelson) Kendall, whom he married Sept. 7, 1948; his brother, Leslie Kendall; and his brother-in-law, Leonard Felt.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at 4 p.m. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, South Dayton, N.Y. Pastor Bethany D. Ruane of South Dayton United Methodist Church will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Park Lawn Cemetery, Wesley, N.Y.

Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
