WILLIAMSPORT - The sixth inning was the downfall for the Jamestown Jammers (24-32) as their hopes for a two-game sweep of the Williamsport Crosscutters (20-37) were spoiled Saturday night at Bowman Field.

The New York-Penn League game was tied at 2-2 when the Crosscutters came to the plate in the sixth inning, and when it ended the hosts tallied five times en route to a 7-3 win, ending their four-game losing streak in the Pinckney Division.

Jamestown is now 2-2 on the road trip and travels to Mahoning Valley for the final two games today at 5:05 p.m. and Monday at 7:05 p.m.

The sixth inning began with Ramon Del Orbe (1-5) giving up a leadoff double to Chris Serritella. Then the Jamestown defense started falling apart. Del Orbe threw the ball into center field and Serritella advanced to third on the error.

Larry Greene walked and Yan Olmo had an RBI single to break the 2-2 tie. That was all for Del Orbe and Beau Wright replaced him.

Kevin Quaranto singled in Green and three wild pitches by Wright scored runs. Two walks and a passed ball by new catcher Michael Vaughn led to the runs.

Jamestown tied the game in the fifth against Kevin Brady with two runs. Vaughn homered to left field for his first of the season followed by back-to-back doubles by Juancito Martinez and Michael Main.

Main's hit knocked out Brady and brought on Steven Inch, who worked 2 innings of scoreless relief to improve his record to 2-1.

Williamsport took advantage of errors by first baseman Felix Munoz and left fielder Jesus Solorzano to score single runs in the first and second innings for a 2-0 lead.

Jamestown got its final run in the ninth off Geoff Broussard on a two-out single by Main that scored the singling Yeison Hernandez.

Broussard retired Pedro Mendoza on an infield out as the Crosscutters took the season series lead over the Jammers, 2-1.

Vaughn had a very impressive debut for the Jammers by belting two doubles in addition to his homer. Main and Martinez each had two hits with a double as the visitors outhit the Crosscutters, 10-8.

After the Mahoning Valley series, the Jammers are home at Diethrick Park for four games with Williamsport, starting with a 5:05 p.m. twin bill Tuesday. Games are also scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
