To the Readers' Forum:
I would like to respond to an Aug. 8 letter.
The writer feels that marriage equality supporters will denounce traditional marriage as a "hate crime." They will hold "'kiss-ins and protests" at traditional wedding ceremonies.
When have the majority of activists for gay rights expressed dislike for a union between a woman and a man? Gays' advocates protest the laws in 44 states that ban gays from living their lives freely, not straight couples' right to marry.
Where is the writer's evidence of this new bigotry? It seems that some conservatives want to believe they will be persecuted so they can use the persecution as proof that homosexuality is wrecking society.
