Ayers Shoots 75 To Lead Senior Tour

Denny Ayers was the medalist in the McDonald's Senior Tour on Monday at Beechwood Golf Course in Fairview, Pa.

Ayers shot a 75 gross and was a plus five using the modified Stableford System for first place in Flight A. Dave Allen was second with a minus two and Dave Kozak was third, also at minus two.

Randy Carlson was the medalist with a 79 and plus five at Fox Run Golf Course in Waterford, Pa., as the Senior Tour had two stops.

Carlson was followed by Carl Malta with a plus four and Jim Rissel with a plus three in Flight A.

Returning to Beechwood, Al Ludwick carded an 84 and was a plus four in Flight B. Kevin Brown had a zero for second place and Neil Cullen a minus one.

Dennis Richards had the lowest gross score in Flight C with a 90 and Ray Galligan was the leader with a plus three, Bill Underwood was second and Tuck Underwood third with plus threes.

Tom Vogan and Tom Fairbanks shot a 95 to top Flight D with Vogan in first with a plus four, Fairbanks was second with a plus three and Dave Nagy third with a plus two.

Wayne Lind was the winner in Flight E with a plus five and a 96.

Cass Culotta was second with plus five and Norm Smith was third with a plus four.

Bill Saulsgiver topped Flight F with a 101 and had a plus eight for first place. Tom Lewis was second with a plus three.

Back at Fox Run, Flight B was led by Brian Brown with an 83 and Bruce Carlson was first with a plus seven. Brown placed second with a plus six and Jim Wise third with a plus four.

Wayne Schuver drilled a 85 and Ray Head led Flight C with a plus nine followed by Dave Chall with a plus eight and Schuver with a plus seven.

George Leopold carded an 88 and was a plus 12 in Flight D. Jim Fincher was second with a plus six and Lucien Conti had a plus four.

Roger Brightman fired a 92 and had an eight plus in Flight E.

Red Johnson shot a 94 gross and had a plus 11 in Flight F. Chuck Melquist was second with plus 11 and Jim Polvino third with a plus nine.

The closest-to-the-hole events were won by Bill Kestler on No. 2, Dave Kozak on No. 4, Charlie Stafford on No. 10 and Bill Cross on No. 15 at Beechwood.

At Fox Run, Carl Malta won on No. 4, Ted Bilicki on No. 8 and Jim Fincher on No. 13.
