Virgil H. D. Allen, 80, of Youngsville, Pa., passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in Warren Manor, Warren, Pa.
He was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Amarillo, Texas, a son of the late Walker and Genevieve Parker Allen.
Following graduation from Jamestown High School, he served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by James-town Metal Manufacturing as a spot welder and earlier had worked for Art Metal, Inc.
He was a member of the American Legion and John W. Tiffany Post 53 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Virgil has been a country music musician/singer for more than 50 years playing in several bands including Internal Affairs, The Coun-try Charts and Reno. He was an avid bowler, pool player and ballplayer. He also enjoyed gardening, camping and working on cars. He loved his family and will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Tillinghast Allen; children: Linda Allen West, William W.D. (Holly) Al-len, Cheryl Allen Fox and Gayle Allen, all of James-town and Brenda Allen (Scott) Barker of Virginia; a brother, Malcolm (Martha) Allen of Jamestown; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Enid Allen Carlson.
No funeral service or visitation will be observed.
Inurnment will be in Foster Cemetery, Lander, Pa.
