"We feature Upstate-made ice cream for our soft serve to support New York state farmers and Pierre's from Cleveland, Ohio, for our hard serve ice cream," Ricotta said.
Ricotta said his new business opened for the first time May 16. Ricotta also owns Phil's Automobile Plaza in Falconer and has been waiting for an opportunity to bring an ice cream business to the village.
"I've been trying to do it for years. The community was lacking this service," he said. "Everybody has been great. They are saying it is about time. I'm investing in the community. Hopefully people will enjoy. Everybody has been leaving with a smile on their face."
Ms. Whitacre said the business has been receiving regular patrons who visit everyday or every other day.
"The kids have been great. They ring the bell and have big smiles on their faces," she said. "Hopefully everything goes well and we will be here year after year. We would like to thank everyone for their support."
Ricotta said the business is centrally located in Falconer, so it is the perfect location for children to ride their bikes to or for senior citizens to take an evening walk around the village with their favorite ice cream treat.
"Once a couple kids rode up on their bikes and emptied their pockets on the picnic table. They started counting their money. They had more than $9 in change. They bought ice cream and soda, and then spent the rest on candy," Ricotta said.
In August, P&T's Sweet Spot will be featuring several specials. Saturday will be family night with a family-friendly movie playing for customers; Sunday will be classic car night with 10 percent off prices for those participating; Tuesday and Wednesday will be 10 percent off for senior citizens; Thursday will be bike night with 10 percent off for those that ride a motorcycle; and Friday '50s and '60s music will be playing. Also, sports teams receive 10 percent off prices, as well.
