Robert E. Patterson, 55, of 110 W. Third St., James-town, N.Y., passed away at 2:30 a.m. Friday (Aug. 3, 2012), in WCA Hospital.
A lifelong area resident, he was born December 23, 1956, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Nelson Robert and Delores Jean Shaw Patterson.
He was a 1976 graduate of Olean High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from June 28, 1976, to June 27, 1979. During his tour of duty he was a multi-channel com-munications equipment operator and earned the Good Conduct Medal.

Prior to his disability, he was employed by James-town Advanced Products for several years. In earlier years, he worked for the Al-cove Restaurant in Olean, N.Y.
He will be remembered as a huge rock and roll fan of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, and was a NAS-CAR fan of Jeff Gordon. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping and spend-ing time outdoors. He loved to restore classic cars, and for the past several years enjoyed communicat-ing with his family and friends via the computer. Through the care by New Visions and New Frontiers, he made many friends who have been his constant sup-port.
Surviving are a son, Kasey M. Patterson and a granddaughter, Annalora M. Patterson, both of Ole-an, N.Y.; four sisters: De-borah M. Tucker of Olean, Darlene B. (Kevin) Maier of Fairview, Pa., Theresa A. (Edward) Nolder of Empori-um, Pa., and Tina M. (Ran-dy) Felton of Busti, N.Y.; a brother, Brian N. Patterson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his former wife, Tracey Wiskemann Patterson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Quentin Coats.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Busti Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led at 1:45 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
