The Post-Journal

The town of Poland Seniors will meet Aug. 15 for a potluck lunch. Members attending should take a dish to pass and their table service. All are welcome to attend. Phyllis Frink, Doris Stone and Jean Ormond are the committee.

Sixty-five seniors and four guests attended the chicken barbecue, catered by 3C's and held in the Kennedy Fire Hall. Norma Vine, Donna Lee Letro, Cliff and Liz Barnes were the committee.

Val Nunn provided a musical program.

Roland Swanson, vice president, called a recent meeting to order with a flag salute and song. Lou Ball accompanied the singing on piano. Table grace was given by Jerry Ward. Reports presented by the secretary and treasurer were approved as read.

Birthdays included Bob Canniff, Lester Town, Bonnie Piazza, Donna Cross and Sharon Morey. Celebrating anniversaries were Bob and Sally Canniff, 45 years; and Lavern and Gloria Terrill, five years.

Seniors were reminded of the Aug. 10 senior picnic in Midway Park. The cost is $5 per person. Tickets are available at the Office for the Aging; call 661-8940.

Ms. Canniff, trip chairwoman, spoke on the Aug. 14 trip to Seneca Lake Cruises. Participants will leave the Kennedy Fire Hall at 8:15 a.m. and return at 7:30 p.m.

Helen Burch volunteered to act as entertainment coordinator.

Veteran Peter Carlo donated American flags that had flown over the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., to Roland Swanson, Navy SEABEE commander, and Charlie Stafford, American Island XII secretary; and also to Lavern Terrill, Kennedy Fire Department chaplain.
