LINKS Charity Making Final Preparations: Maintains Commitment to Enhancing Local Breast Cancer Care
The LINKS Charity is making final preparations for its fundraising events Monday and Tuesday at Moon Brook Country Club.
Beginning Monday morning, the 21st annual LINKS Charity LPGA Pro-Am will feature 25 LPGA touring professionals teamed with four amateur golfers. As in years past, the field is full for the tournament.
Pictured above are members of the LINKS Charity Planning Committee meet at the Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant to make final preparation for the 21st annual LINKS Charity events at Moon Brook Country Club. Front row, from left, are Elaine Short, Mary Blair, Becky VanRiper, Angie Peck of Cummins and Elyse Clark of Truck-Lite. Back row, from left, are Allen Short, Dave Ankeny of The Bilicki Law Firm, David Thomas of ALSTAR EMS, Brad VanRiper, LINKS Charity executive director from Truck-Lite; Aditi Salvi from Cummins and Mike Abbate from Cummins.
Later that evening, the "LINKing Together" banquet and auction will begin at 6 p.m. Seats are still available for the event. Tickets are $50 a person and feature dinner provided by Moon Brook Country Club and the LINKS live and silent auctions. LINKS Charity is continuing to accept donated items for these auctions.
On Tuesday, the LINKS golf scramble begins with an 8 a.m. golf clinic with LPGA professionals followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start. A limited number of spaces, costing $250 per golfer, are available for individuals and foursomes interested in golfing.
Spearheaded by lead sponsor Truck-Lite and major sponsors Cummins, United Refining Company and ALSTAR Emergency Medical Services, along with associate sponsors, Veracity Benefits, Jamestown Savings Bank and The Bilicki Law Firm, LINKS Charity has once again taken a leadership role in the local fight against breast cancer with a $300,000 pledge toward the purchase of 3-D Breast Tomosynthesis. The technology will compliment LINKS Charity's most recent gift of $275,000 to aid in the diagnosis of breast cancer through the purchase of digital mammography equipment which is now operational in the WCA Center for Imaging & Medical Arts. To date, nearly $880,000 has been contributed by LINKS Charity to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of local cancer patients. By year end, LINKS Charity hopes to surpass the $1 million mark.
