CLYMER - A Clymer man was taken to WCA Hospital after driving drunk and rolling his car into a gully Thursday night, police said.
Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies say Nicholas E. Weitschat, 22, of Clymer was driving eastbound on Clymer Center Road when he drove his 1998 Ford Escort onto the shoulder, crossed back across both lanes of traffic, rolled over an embankment and came to rest in a gully.
Sheriff's deputies responded with the Clymer and Panama volunteer fire departments, and Weitschat was taken to WCA Hospital for his injuries. The extent of his injuries were not immediately known at the scene. An 18-year-old passenger in Weitschat's car was able to walk away from the crash with only a scratch.
Deputies interviewed Weitschat at the hospital and charged him with driving while intoxicated. Additional charges will be filed at a later date when the investigation is complete.
Weitschat will answer to charges in Clymer Town Court at a later date.
