Steven W. Russell Sr., 62, of Falconer passed away Sunday (July 22, 2012) in his home.
A lifelong area resident he was born August 12, 1949, in Jamestown, the son of Ralph Carlson and Joyce Warner Russell.
Steven was a 1967 graduate of Falconer High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam from 1969 to 1973. He was employed by the Chautauqua County Highway Department as a bridge supervisor for 35 years, retiring in 2005.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening, restoring and remodeling his home and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and family.
Surviving are his wife Janice E. Hall Russell whom he married September 29, 1967, in Lakewood, N.Y.; two sons: Steven W. Russell Jr. of Buffalo and Joshua L. (Melissa) Russell of the Town of Niagara, N.Y.; two grandchildren: Nicolas Russell and Thomas Russell; his father Ralph Carlson of Busti, his mother Joyce Warner Russell of St. Cloud, Fla.; a brother Darryl Russell of Jamestown; three sisters: Denise (Bud) Ericson of W.E. Jamestown, Lisa (Mike) Carr of St. Cloud, Fla. and Lynne (Glenn) Dickinson of St. Cloud, Fla., and a sister-in-law Judy Hall from Falconer.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home.
