Dean L. Frederes

Dean L. Frederes, 90, of Falconer passed away Monday (July 16, 2012), in his daughter's home in the town of Carroll.

He was husband of the late Patricia A. Lindquist Frederes, whom he married July 12, 1947, who died Oct. 17, 1973.

A lifelong area resident, he was born April 24, 1922, in Levant, the son of the late Ernest D. and Linda Anderson Frederes.

Dean was a graduate of Falconer High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Watson's Manufacturing in Jamestown as a welder.

He was a past member of the Henry Mosher Post 638 American Legion in Falconer, the Tiffany Post Veterans of Foreign Wars in Jamestown, and the Ingjald Lodge 65, Independent Order of Vikings.

Dean loved playing horseshoes and listening to country music. He especially looked forward to attending the annual Ellington town picnic.

Surviving are his two sons: Timothy (Marlena) of Newburgh N.Y., and David (Catherine) Frederes of Salisbury N.C.; two daughters: Laurie (Thomas) Fenton of Frewsburg, and Deborah (Ronald) Hogan of Lima, N.Y.; nine grandchildren: Timothy Frederes Jr., Jeffrey Frederes, Jennifer Begel, Ashley Frederes, Amanda (Kirk) Steiner, Kelly Hogan, Stephanie Hogan, Justin (Heather Mlacker) Conti and Erin Conti; and six great-grandchildren: Traya Begel, Jordan Allen, Elisabeth Wilson, Curtiss Wilson, Calvin Stage and Kira Abby.

Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Ernest, Philip, and Roger Frederes; and two sisters: Mary Beightol and Violet Wickstrom.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Levant Wesleyan Church, 1670 Lindquist Drive, Falconer, where the Rev. Howard Garver will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Falconer Funeral Home.

Memorials may be donated to Hospice Of Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
