HOLLAND - Shane Riffel, formally of Kennedy, made the trip from his Huntersville, N.C. home last weekend to compete in the Cup Lites Racing Series at Holland Speedway.
Having driven for other car owners since 2009, Riffel completed a two-year restoration of his own Cup Lites race car and the complete re-build gave Riffel the results he wanted on Saturday with a first-place finish.
Starting fourth in the field, Riffel was third by lap two, second by lap three and was steadily running down the leader. With eight laps to go, Riffel was about to pass for the lead when the caution was waved.

The leader picked the inside row for the restart. When the green flag fell, using the outside lane, Riffel quickly moved his No. 54 Monster Energy/ Hitchcock Signs Camry into the lead and was never threatened after that, winning by 15 car lengths.
This victory gives Riffel two wins and one second for the season in the revitalized Cup Lites Racing Series.
His next scheduled race will be Aug.11, again at Holland Speedway.
