Time To Plan

Cattaraugus County To Host Comprehensive Plan Meeting Thursday

July 10, 2012
The Post-Journal

RANDOLPH - The third public forum on the Cattaraugus County Comprehensive Plan will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Randolph Municipal Building, 72 Main St., Randolph.

The topic of the forum will be environment and natural resources.

Cattaraugus County has many natural resources such as watersheds, water bodies, farmland, wildlife habitats, environmentally sensitive areas, forests and natural gas and oil. County officials want to determine how best to utilize these resources while protecting them for future generations.

The county is seeking the public's input to the planning process that will develop a new comprehensive plan and vision of the future. The comprehensive plan will provide a blueprint for the future growth and development of the county in economic development, agriculture, the environment and natural resources, transportation and infrastructure, arts and culture and land use.

Three more public forums are scheduled through October on the following topics:

6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at a location to be determined, focusing on transportation and infrastructure;

6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at a location to be determined, focusing on arts and culture; and

6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at a location to be determined, focusing on land use.

Light refreshments will be served.

For any questions on the comprehensive planning process, call James H. Isaacson, Cattaraugus County senior planner, at 938-2320 or email jhisaacson@cattco.org.
