Senior Tour Takes On Elkdale, Cardinal Hills

The McDonald's Senior Golf Tour visited two area courses on Monday.

At Elkdale Country Club in Salamanca, Carl Malta led Flight A with plus 6, Bob Wood had plus 4 and Bill Hart posted a plus 2, using the modified Stableford scoring system. Malta and Wood tied for the low gross with 78s.

In Flight B, Ron Juzdowski finished in first place with plus 6, Brian Brown and Randy Chamberlin tied for second at plus 2 and Roger Burlett was third with plus 1. Juzdowski and the low gross score with 80.

Dennis Richards topped Flight C with a plus 6 and also had an 84 for the low gross, Bill Davenport carded a plus 5 for second and Larry Spencer took third with plus 2.

John Slaughter paced Flight D with plus 6, Chuck Jackson followed with plus 3 and Bill Roschy was third with plus 2. Don Armstrom shot a 92 for low gross.

In Flight E, Charles Stafford led the way with plus 6, Boyd Matteson was a shot behind at plus 5 and Cass Culotta also had plus 5. George Leopold carded a 95 for the low gross and in Flight F, Bill Saulsgiver and Tom Harte each shot a plus 4 as Mort Armstrong fired a plus 3.

Saulsgiver had a 102 for the low gross.

Closest-to-the-pin honors went to Ed Westerling on No. 4, Joe McCourt on No. 9, Tracy Heppler on No. 12 and Jim Smith on No. 16.

Over at Cardinal Hills Golf Course in Randolph, Henry Mole topped Flight A with a plus 7 and also shot an 85 for the low gross.

Bob Wade took Flight B with plus 3 while Jim Webb had plus 1 for second and Neil Cullen was third with minus 4. Wade led the low gross scores with 85.

In Flight C, Bill Baglia earned top honors with plus 14, Dick Joslyn was second with plus 6 and Bob Michael also had plus 6. Baglia also had 81 for the low gross.

Lynn Butcher topped Flight D with plus 8, Tuck Underwood placed second with plus 2 and Dan Good followed with a plus 2 total. Butcher was the low gross winner with 90.

Nick Pannes led Flight E with plus 1 and Red Johnson was next with minus 1. Johnson was the low gross leader with 106.

Tom Mruk was the top shooter in Flight F with a plus 17 and Don Garfield was next with plus 7. Mruk's 93 was the best low gross score.

The McDonald's tour moves on the Blueberry Hill Golf Course on July 16 with a start time of 8 a.m.
