Ashlie M. Flanigan, of Machias, a senior accountant with Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro P.C. recently became licensed to practice as a certified public accountant in New York.
To obtain the license, Ms. Flanigan passed the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Examination, which consists of a four-part, 16 hour exam covering the areas of financial accounting and reporting, auditing and attestation, business environments and regulation. Candidates for the CPA designation must satisfy extensive educational requirements from an accredited institution and fulfill stringent experience requirements.

Flanigan is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University where she earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration with a major in accounting.
