Can Drive Set
For Saturday
The Jamestown Boys & Girls Club will hold a can drive on Saturday, July 7 at the club's 62 Allen St. location from 9 a.m to noon. Club members would like to fill a truck full of depositable cans to benefit the club.
Town Of Carroll To Close Office
The Town of Carroll clerk's office will be closed Wednesday through Friday. The office will re-open Monday, July 9.
Celoron Sets Lawn Sale Dates
CELORON - The Celoron Village Board has set Friday through July 8 as the dates for the village's annual lawn sales. Residents can register at the Celoron Village Hall, 21 Boulevard Ave., or call 487-4175 to place their address on the listing that will be compiled and available for pickup beginning Thursday.
Chicken Barbecue Set For July 7
CLYMER - The Clymer-French Creek Free Library is having a chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7. The barbecue will be for pick-up orders only. Tickets are $8 and will be available at the library. For more information, call the library at 355-8823.
Music And Praise Begins July 8
The Salvation Army will begin its music and praise by the river series at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 8, through Aug. 19 at the River Walk in Brooklyn Square. Featured will be Crossmen, July 8; Kidder Alive Praise and Worship Team, July 15; Wind River, July 22; Psalmody, July 29; 4 His Glory, Aug. 5; Aug. 12 and Aug. 19, to be announced. The community is invited to attend. In case of rain, the programs will be held in The Salvation Army, 83 S. Main St., Jamestown.
Salamanca Board To Meet Tuesday
SALAMANCA - The Salamanca City Central School District Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the large-group instruction room at the school. The public is invited to attend.
Church Releases Worship Schedule
The Lakewood United Methodist Church, 164 Shadyside Ave., Lakewood and the Ashville UMC, N. Maple St., Ashville, announced summer worship schedules. Each Sunday in July, the worship service will be at 10 a.m. each Sunday in the Lakewood UMC. Services in August will be held at 10 a.m. in the Ashville UMC. The normal worship schedule of 9:30 a.m. in Ashville and 10 a.m. in Lakewood will begin the first Sunday in September. Sunday school will begin Sept. 9.
Summer Program Begins July 9
STAR Swimming, a member of USA Swimming, will offer a five-week summer program from July 9 through Aug. 10. Practices will be Monday through Friday at the Jamestown High School pool. Two sessions will be available. One session is from 6:30 to 8 a.m. coached by Brad Johnson with a second session from 10 to 11:30 a.m. coached by Glen Shoup. The sessions will work to improve all four stroke techniques, increasing swimmers' confidence and work ethics at practices. For more information, email STARJamestown@stny.rr.com.
