Volunteers Make After-Prom A Success

June 30, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

On May 12th Falconer High School held their 25th Annual After-Prom party at the high school. No other school in this region has had the opportunity to be able to do an event like this for this many consecutive years.

This event is made possible because we have wonderful parents, staff, faculty, staff and a wonderful community who are beyond generous. Due to everyone's generosity we were able to keep 197 students safe for an entire evening of fun.

We had over 80 parents and staff enjoy the evening with the kids. We tell the kids admission is free and for adults the cost of admission is one sleepless night and one week to recover. We have many parents who come back even after their kids have graduated.

Our school was converted into a Mardi-Gras theme. The kids received beads and t-shirts and bags of goodies as they entered. This year they had a chance to drive the DUI simulator. They played games in the casino to earn funny money and over 15 games in the gym.

The blowup obstacle course was a big hit this year. They sang karaoke. They also had the chance to win such things as Apple I-Pad, TVs, GPS system, X-box and multiple gift cards and other prizes.

They enjoyed pizza, wings, subs, cotton candy, vegetable trays, popcorn donated and served by the Falconer Kiwanis, ice cream donated and served by the Falconer Rotary We fundraise starting in October with our annual fruit sale and proceed throughout the year with other fundraisers.

Thank you just does not begin to say enough to the hundreds of people who have donated to this wonderful event, whether it be monetary or time. Thank you for keeping our kids safe..
