CHERRY CREEK - The 2012 Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert series, entitled "Our Musical Heritage Across America" will begin Thursday at the Cherry Creek Memorial Park on Main Street in the village.

The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. Those planning to attend should bring their own lawn chairs for seating. Refreshments will be available.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the Pine Valley VFW on Route 83 in Cherry Creek.

Opening this summer's season of concerts will be the Oliverio. Officially named The Oliverio Family Rock Band, the group has opened for some national performing acts, including Lynyrd Sknyrnd, Ambrosia, Night Ranger, Jordan Knight, Dave Mason and Marshall Tucker.

Dan Oliverio is the father of the group, and is the primary songwriter. He plays lead guitar and provides vocal harmonies for the group. Dane Oliverio is the group's bass player and lead singer and was a finalist in the Amherst Teen Idol Contest in 2006. Anton Oliverio, 14, is the group's drummer and was featured in the June 2006 issue of Drum magazine, and was also highlighted on the "Early Show." Rocky Oliverio has been performing with the group since he was 3 years old. Now a seasoned performer at age 6, he is the audience attention getter who is learning the guitar and the drums and likes to sing. His family expects him to be a full member of the group soon.

The 2012 Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc., and paid for in part by the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Regrant Program, administered by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council, area businesses, the town and village of Cherry Creek, as well as community members.
