Falconer Manager Receives Honor

Craig Vollmer, a professional forester at FORECON Inc., was recently recognized by the New York Society of American Foresters with its Forester of the Year Award.

The award is presented annually to recognize a member for their contributions to the practice and profession of forestry, the conservation and stewardship of forest resources in New York and the objectives of the Society of American Foresters. It is one of the highest honors within the association.

Vollmer has served both locally and nationally in various leadership roles within the Society of American Foresters. He serves at the national level as co-chairman of the SAF Certification Review Board that oversees the Certified Forester Credential for forestry professionals throughout the country. He holds a bachelor's degree and master's degree from the College of Forestry in Syracuse. For more than 20 years, he has been helping private forest owners, municipalities and timberland investors in New York in the management of their forestland.

He works for FORECON Inc. a local forestry consulting firm based in Falconer, as the manager for its Falconer office. Vollmer lives with his wife and two children in Ashville.
