FRENCH CREEK - Along with having a 3-D computerized pop-up archery range, French Creek Outdoors now has lower prices.
Trevor Maynard, the business' owner, said he started operating the business four months ago. Since taking ownership, Maynard said he has lowered prices and is carrying new items like crossbows and muzzleloaders.
''All my prices are within a couple dollars of Gander Mountain, which is tough for an independent owner to do,'' he said. ''I guarantee low prices on Carhartt gear, and I also carry Woolrich and Filson.''

From Panama originally, Maynard said he has lived in Clymer the past 12 years and has been fortunate to meet and make a lot of friends in the community. He said he has always been an outdoor enthusiast and wants to pass on his knowledge to his customers.
''What guy doesn't want an outdoor store,'' he said. ''I love it when customers come in and I get to hear their hunting stories. Everybody has one about the big one that got away.''
Maynard said he also enjoys giving advice to beginners, who want to know more about outdoor sports.
''There are a lot of people who are just getting started. They want to know more about what they need and I like pointing them in the right direction,'' he said.
As part of that, Maynard teaches archery lessons to teenagers and children who are learning the sport for the first time. In fact, Maynard has two children, 12-year-old Aubrey and 11-year-old Tanner, who are learning about the outdoors and helping around the store.
''It is great. One second my boy is in here sweeping the floor, helping me out, then the next thing I know he is out back shooting arrows with his bow,'' he said.
Maynard said French Creek Outdoors features a 3-D computerized pop-up archery range.
''There are only nine similar ranges in the country,'' he said. ''It is $10 for an hour for an individual or a group can use it for $50.''
Maynard said this summer he will be planning to have archery tournaments with the state-of-the-art archery range. The business also has an indoor archery range, as well.
Maynard said French Creek Outdoors, which is located at 1589 French Creek-Mina Road, Clymer, near the French Creek Tavern, has several brands of bows and archery accessories, including Bear, PSE and Parker. The store also has boots from Carolina, Muck and LaCrosse. Maynard sells hunting licenses and ammunition. He is working on acquiring a license to sell firearms, as well.
He also carries one-of-a-kind custom decorative mounts. Soon he will have a full line of fly-fishing pools and accessories. He has also teamed with another business to offer vouchers to his store on items like bows when someone purchases an all-terrain vehicle from Off Road Express in Erie, Pa.
The business is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. For more information, call 708-1788.
