Local Auction To Benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation

June 2, 2012
The Post-Journal

Celebrity photos, sports items, and local memorabilia are among dozens of items that customers can bid on at the Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Jamestown. Now through Sunday, items that currently adorn the restaurant's walls will be up for auction as the restaurant prepares for its upcoming remodel. All proceeds will benefit the local Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter to help grant the wishes of children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition.

"Every day, patrons come into our restaurants and admire the memorabilia that pay homage to their favorite stars and local teams," said Stephanie Griffin, director of marketing and public relations, T.L. Cannon Companies. "This auction allows our customers to take advantage of some unique shopping, all while benefitting a deserving organization."

All bids must be made through the Applebee's restaurant manager on-duty by 5 p.m. on Sunday, and items must be paid for in cash. Customers have until Monday to pick up purchased items.

"The money raised through this auction will help grant wishes for eligible children in our community," said Tracy Gray, regional director of development, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and Western New York. "We thank the Jamestown Applebee's for their support and encourage all members of our community to bring their friends and family, to enjoy a great meal and support a worthy cause by bidding high and often on the unique auction items."

The silent auction will take place at the Applebee's restaurant located 340 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.

The Jamestown restaurant will be closed on Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12 while the final touches are added to the new look, re-opening at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13. Once complete, the restaurant interior will include customized wall murals that reflect the neighborhood including local schools, sports teams and community organizations. The refreshed restaurant will also feature state-of-the-art flat-screen televisions and updated wall coverings and decor. The exterior will feature new awnings, lighting and updated signage.
