LAKEWOOD - With the warm weather and the holiday on Monday, many people were boating on Chautauqua Lake - but a boat ride nearly turned tragic for a brother and sister.
At 1:36 p.m. Monday, the Lakewood Fire Department responded to boat fire a quarter of a mile from shore behind Smith Boys of Chautauqua.
A set of siblings, a male and female, were on board when the boat caught fire. After jumping overboard, they were picked up by a nearby boat. They were both taken to WCA Hospital, with the woman being treated for minor burns.
