''I started doing my family's hair and then doing my grandmother's,'' she said. ''It has been something that has always been in my heart. I've always had a desire to do this.''
Ms. Madonia said she still has the same passion for styling hair that she has always possessed.
"It feels pretty awesome to be doing something I love and I'm passionate about doing," she said. "This is what I'm going to do until I can't work no more. What other job can you do where you get to make people happy. It is good to see them smile."
Marcel's Hair Salon provides haircuts for men, women and children. People can receive services like hair extensions and coloring, like highlights and lowlights. The salon also provides waxing services and spray-tanning.
Ms. Madonia said she has always enjoyed her location right along Second Street where plenty of traffic goes by each day.
''We get a lot of foot traffic, which is always nice. I like to meet new people,'' she said. ''We are handicapped accessible and we have plenty of parking.''
Including Ms. Madonia, there are four other beauticians that work at the salon.
The business is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Ms. Madonia said the salon schedules appointments with people that cannot make regular business owners. For more information, call 665-1101.
