To the Readers' Forum:
Many, many choices in life are made regularly; for example, what foods we eat, what clothes we wear, what candidates we vote for, what people we spend time with, and what charities we support.
One organization that I find worthy of support, both financially and time commitment, is Creche. A group of dedicated local women, known as Creche, has been serving the community, generation after generation, for 112 years now.
In 1900, a small group of young women in Jamestown began sewing garments for babies in WCA Hospital. We've been sewing children's gowns for the hospital ever since. How many organizations do you know that have followed their mission and served their communities for that long?
Today we also purchase clothing, bedding, strollers, playpens, and more for children in need in our area and their families. All donations and funds are used for local children only. In the past, Creche's largest fundraiser has been Tag Days - the first weekend in August. This year we are tagging and asking for donations on several different weekends as well.
We will be tagging this coming weekend in celebration of Mother's Day at several locations. What better way to honor your own mother than to make a donation to Creche? If you see a dedicated member of Creche at one of the locations where you shop, please consider giving a small donation to help needy children in our community and to honor your own mom as well.
