Honor Our Civil Servants This Week

May 10, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

As a federal retiree, I think it is important to recognize our nation's civil servants during Public Service Recognition Week (May 6-12).

Even though you may not stop and think about federal workers in your daily life, that doesn't mean you don't benefit from what they do.

There are hundreds of federal employees right here in Chautauqua County. Federal employees sound the alarm when a bad storm is coming, deliver the mail, help you with Social Security applications and problems, answer questions about taxes, assist farmers, make sure our airlines are safe, investigate federal crimes, and many other activities we take for granted.

The federal workforce has a proud legacy. Let's take this opportunity to thank federal employees in our community for keeping our country safe and on track for more than two centuries.
