Contractor Concerns

May 8, 2012

To the Readers' Forum:

It's that time of the year to have remolding and roofing work done, and when you are a homeowner you should make sure that the contractor is very dependable and has insurance.

I hired one to build a garage and it's all out of sqaure and not finished. After calling several courts, I found out he's been sued several times in many different courts,

You can call your local city court to find out if they have judgments against because, if they start the work its considerd a civil matter not criminal if they don't finish your job and you have to take them to court.

You may also contact the state Attorney General's Office witch I am in the process of coing. The same contractor has done this to other homeowners I've been in contact with and they're doing the paper work with the atteroney general also.

New York State needs to buckle down on these people that live off ripping homeowner' off. I'm also disabled and found out that this contractor has done this to other elderly people also. His favorite saying is they can't afford me to finish the job.

New York State needs to put these kind of people in jail because they aren't giving any money back.
