Stanley E. Anderson

Stanley E. Anderson, 89, of 165 Terrace Lane, High Acres, Bemus Point, N.Y., formerly of 114 South Allegheny Ave. W.E., passed away at 11:49 a.m. Monday (April 30, 2012), in WCA Hospital.

A lifelong area resident he was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Gust H. and Marie S. Anderson Anderson.

He had attended the former Lakewood High School and received his diploma from Southwestern Central School, as part of the Operation Recognition Program for veterans.

Stan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a pharmacist's mate first class, during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He served a second tour of duty during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. During his tour of duty he served aboard the USS LST 47, USS LST 310 and the USS LCS 123.

Before his retirement, he was employed by the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing Company, where he worked for 35 years. He served 10 years as a foreman and 25 years as an electrician for Dahlstroms. In prior years he had worked for the former Hydrolic Products, Yorktowne Industries, Jamestown Macadam and also worked for the village of Lakewood water and sewer department.

He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 2107, where he served as recording secretary. He was also a life member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, Celoron.

He will be remembered as a loving and caring father and grandfather who loved to do carpentry work, fishing, gardening, photography and had a keen in-erest in computers.

Surviving are two daughters: Shelley L. (Jeffry) Price of South Riding, Va., and Lynda R. (Russell) Waite of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Russell C. Waite Jr. of Cassadaga, Lynette R. Wilson, Randall G. Waite and Lissette R. Waite, all of Jamestown, Ethan A. Price and Kathryn T. Price, both of South Riding, Va., 12 great-grandchildren; six great-great- grandchildren: and a sister, June Evans of Wausau, Wis.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Colleen J. Starkweather Carlson Anderson, whom he married June 21, 1953, and who died Dec. 12, 2000; and a brother, Lawrence G. Anderson.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald E. Ray, retired chaplain of WCA Hospital will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home.
