What Has Happened To Society?

May 3, 2012
The Post-Journal

To the Readers' Forum:

On Thursday evening, April 19, I watched two true cases about abduction on television. I also read about other cases in the paper.

I grew up in the 30's and 40's and lived in Celoron all of my life. I, along with my friends, played in Celoron Amusement Park daily beginning when I was about 7 or 8 years old. We went to the park daily, going home only to have dinner and returning the park until 5 or 6 p.m.. I spoke to one of those friends and we agreed that we never heard of any abductions or attacks of any kind. Our parents never worried about us.

What has happened to society? So much has changed in the past 60 or 70 years - not only regarding abductions, but many other things - including the way teenagers dress. I don't understand the reason for t he way boys wear their pants so low in back in order to show their underwear. What's the point?
