AARP Sets Safe

Driving Class

MAYVILLE - An AARP Safe Driving class for insurance reduction and point reduction will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Thursday, May 9-10, at the VFW in Mayville. The cost is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non-members. Anyone with a New York state driver's license may attend. For more information or to pre-register, call Wanda Gustafson at 753-7420. Jack Twinam, a certified New York state instructor, will teach the class.

Celebration Group To Meet Thursday

CASSADAGA - Anyone interested in helping with the 75th anniversary celebration of the Cassadaga Valley Central School District is invited to a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Cassadaga Valley Central School multi-purpose room. Day Of Prayer Set For Thursday

The annual National Day of Prayer will be observed on Thursday. The traditional Jamestown gathering will be held from noon to 12:45 p.m. in Tracy Plaza, outside of city hall and will take place rain or shine. Mayor Sam Teresi and County Executive Greg Edwards will address the gathering, along with representatives from several area Christian ministries including Community Helping Hands, Love INC, St. Susan's, UCAN and the Samaritan House. Participating clergy will lead in prayer for the concerns of the city, county and each ministry. Dr. Miller, The Better Place Ministries director, will share a short message. Music will be led by Pastor Brett Heintzman. In Chautauqua County, there will also be a National Day of Prayer observance at 6 p.m. in the County Fair Grounds 4-H Building, Dunkirk, and at 7 p.m. in Camp Findley, south of the village of Findley Lake. Participants should take a lawn chair.

Drum Circle To Meet Thursday

LILY DALE - The World Beat Drum Circle will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, in the Church of the Living Spirit, Cleveland Avenue, Lily Dale, corner of Cleveland and Library streets. George Clees will be the facilitator. All are welcome to attend, from those who have never drummed to the most experienced. Several drums will be available for use during the evening. New Court Hours In North Harmony

NORTH HARMONY - The Town of North Harmony has new hours for Thursday evenings. Starting immediately, they are: court, 5 to 7 p.m.; town clerk, 5 to 7 p.m., and Zoning C.E.O., 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call the town clerk's office at 789-3445, ext. 2.

Thrift Store Hours Announced

The Victory Tabernacle Thrift Store, 205 Cherry St., Jamestown, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Monday, Thursday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Friday. Clothes are five pieces for $3 or $1 each. The last week of each month is a $1 bag sale. Donations of household items are needed. For more information, call 358-2127. The store is a non-profit organization operated by the Victory Tabernacle church.
