Benefit Dinner To Be Held Saturday
A spaghetti dinner benefit will be held Saturday, at the Ellington Rod and Gun Club, beginning at noon for Dianne Lundsten, who has been battling kidney failure and was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. There will be door prizes, a Chinese auction, music and more. the cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Donations are currently being accepted by Cherilyn Cline at 287-3301. Cash donations may be made at Community Bank in the name of the Dianne Lundsten Benefit.
County Parks Group To Meet
The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chautauqua County Airport. The public is welcome to attend.
Cantata Practice Continues Sunday
Several Jamestown churches are working on "Sanctuary," a cantata which will be presented to the community on June 3. Practice for the event is each Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Fluvanna Community Church. Anyone interested in participating is welcome to attend .
Shingles Clinic Set For May 22
MAYVILLE - Johnson's Village Pharmacy, 99 E. Chautauqua St., Mayville, is sponsoring a Zostavax (Shingles) vaccine clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 22. Recently the age guidelines have been lowered, and patients can now be age 50 and over to receive the vaccine. A registered nurse will be on hand to administer the immunizations. Appointments must be made in advance. Many insurance plans will cover this vaccine, including Medicare D plans. The price without insurance is $225. Contact the pharmacy at 753-3200 if interested in receiving the immunization. Those who have had chicken pox are more susceptible to getting the shingles virus, and the immunization may reduce the incidence and severity of shingles outbreaks. The pharmacy will contact your doctor and insurance to check coverage, so advance planning is needed.
Soil & Water District To Meet
The Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District will hold its directors' regular meeting Thursday, at 8:30 a.m. at the Frank W. Bratt Ag Center, 3542 Turner Road in Jamestown.
Free Movie And Dinner Night
CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga Community Baptist Church, 25 Maple Ave., Cassadaga, will hold a free dinner and movie night Friday in the church fellowship hall. The dinner will be served at 6 p.m., and the movie "We Bought A Zoo" will follow at 7 p.m. The dinner and movie are free and open to the public.
Sears To Collect Food Bank Items
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Sears store in the Chautauqua Mall is collecting non-perishable food items and money for the Food Bank of Western New York. Anyone donating food items will receive a coupon. On Saturday, the store will have a cook-out with hot dogs and water available, as well as a bake sale and sundae sale in the mall entrance. All donations go directly to the Food Bank with all money staying in the Chautauqua County area. For more information, call 456-3252 during normal store hours.
