FALCONER - Interacting in the community by reading, exercising, saving money and donating items will lead to some children winning a prize.
The Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union is again hosting its annual April Youth Month Challenge. Kelly Haaksma, Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union chief executive officer, said the financial institution has about 1,000 child members who can participate in the contest. The youth-month challenges consist of children doing three fitness, savings, reading and community challenge activities. Once the children complete the challenges, they will be eligible to enter a contest with the grand prize being an Xbox 360 with Kinect or a Playstation Vita. In total, there are more than $2,000 in cash and prizes, which also includes prizes like an iPod Touch, bicycles and passes to Splash Lagoon
''We want to encourage the children to be affiliated with the credit union and with community groups,'' Ms. Haaksma said.
