Pine Valley To Host Adult Courses
SOUTH DAYTON - Pine Valley Central School will offer several adult interest courses in April and May. They include: the AARP Driver Safety Program - Mature Driving on April 24-25; Computer Technology: Introduction to Excel on April 17 and 24 and May 1, 8 and 15; Zumba Dance on April 16, 18, 23, 25 and 30 and May 2, 7, 9, 14 and 16; and Total Body Workout on April 16, 18, 23, 25 and 30 and May 2, 7, 9, 14 and 16. JCC Signs Deal With PSU-Behrend
Jamestown Community College graduates transferring to Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, are eligible for grant-in-aid through a new program. Grant-in-aid money covers the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at Penn State Behrend. JCC graduates receive the grant as long as they maintain enrollment as Penn State Behrend undergraduates. JCC's Counseling & Career Development Center has additional details on the grant-in-aid program and on articulation agreements between JCC and Penn State Behrend. Municipal Band To Begin Rehearsals
The Jamestown Municipal Band will begin rehearsal for the summer concert season at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the Spire Theater, formerly the First Congregational Church. Participants should use the Fourth Street entrance. Rehearsals will be every Tuesday. All members, former members and interested wind instrumentalists are encouraged to attend. Openings are in the French horn, percussion and tuba sections. The band performs concerts in the Goranson Band Shell, the Memorial Day parade and Memorial Day services in the Lakeview Cemetery. Senior Wellness Day Is April 18
LAKEWOOD - A Senior Wellness Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Emeritus at Lakewood, 220 Southwestern Drive, Lakewood, by the United Senior Council of Chautauqua County. There will be free screening for vision, hearing, blood pressure, heels for osteoporosis, foot and ankle care and prostrate cancer. Information on home health care, hospice, services of Office of the Aging, therapeutic massage, pain management, natureopathic healing, muscle strengthening, healthy bones, exercises, balance to prevent falls, nutrition as well as information on incontinence, dementia and illness that afflict the elderly will be available. There will also be adaptive devices that can make a senior's life easier. Admission is free and there will be a free lunch to all seniors attending. Therapist To Speak To Knitting Guild
The Waterways Knitting Guild will host Amy Livengood of Chautauqua Physical and Occupational Therapy at its meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 14, at First Covenant Church, 520 Spring St., Jamestown. Ms. Livengood's discussion is titled, "Oh, My Aching Hands!" and will address those who have finger, hand, wrist or elbow pain. The meeting is free and open to the public.
