County Bridge To Close Today

POMFRET - The county bridge on Webster Road between Laona Road and Fredonia-Stockton Road in the town of Pomfret will be closed to all traffic beginning Wednesday. A detour will be posted.

Brush Disposal Begins Today

FALCONER - Due to the early change in the weather, the village of Falconer and town of Ellicott will start their biweekly brush this week. Disposal for West Ellicott and the village of Celoron will be at the village of Celoron Garage and start today, from 4 to 7 p.m. Disposal for the village of Falconer and East Ellicott will be at the Falconer Public Works garage and start from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Both will carry on every other week until Oct. 1-2, respectively.

Foster Parent Meeting Planned

The Chautauqua County Department of Social Services will be hosting an informational meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Social Services office located at 110 E. Fourth St., in Jamestown. All those interested in learning more about becoming a foster parent are asked to attend. For more information, please call 661-8212.

Monthly Bag Sale Begins Tuesday

Community Helping Hands will hold its monthly bag sale from Tuesday through Friday, during the agency's regular hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bags are $1. New items are put out every day. Community Helping Hands is located in the Gateway Center, 31 Water St. For more information, call 487-1488.

Commission To Meet Tuesday

RED HOUSE - M. Brad Whitcomb, regional director for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Allegany Region, announces that the Allegany Region Commission will meet at Allegany State Park in the administration building on the Red House area at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The public is welcome to attend.

Historical Society Sets Meeting

BLOCKVILLE - The Harmony Historical Society will have its first business meeting of the year at 7 p.m. Tuesday. There will also be a dinner meeting on April 17 with a program to follow. Meetings were suspended during the winter months. The society will resume their business meetings the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. Also dinner meetings will be held the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. More information on the programs following dinner will come later.

Natural Food Workshop Set

Cornell Cooperative Extension's Vegetable Specialists and Alfred State College will hold a "Season Extension: Meeting the Demand for Local, Natural Food" workshop Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Townhouse Commons Conference Room at Alfred State College. The workshop will include a tour of an organic high tunnel as well as information about high tunnel grants. Preregistration is required.
