If you're having trouble scheduling an appointment with your primary care physician, visit the new medical service facility that won't keep you waiting.

Five Star Urgent Care is the new medical facility located in Suite 270 of the Riverwalk Center in Brooklyn Square in Jamestown. The facility offers quality care without the wait, pledging to see patients within 15 minutes of registration.

John Radford, Five Star Urgent Care president, said they offer care quicker than if you would visit a hospital's emergency room.

''Our focus is on customer service,'' Radford said. ''When people have trouble getting into their primary care doctor or don't want to deal with overcrowding at an emergency room, they can come here.''

Radford said Five Star Urgent Care is the first-of-its-kind medical facility in Jamestown that can provide all the services necessary for a medical evaluation.

''For this area, (we are) unique,'' Radford said.

With state-of-the-art equipment, including on-site X-rays and lab testing, Five Star's staff can treat all non-life-threatening ailments, from bronchitis to stitches, sprains to fractures and everything in between - including routine medical exams. The facility is on a walk-in basis, with no appointment necessary.

He said the use of advanced electronic medical records allows the staff to communicate directly with the patient's primary care provider and other medical specialists regarding the care a patient receives to ensure coordinated, quality medical attention. Also, Five Star accepts most insurances and Medicare.

Radford said Five Star is a more affordable alternative than hospital emergency rooms, with lower insurance copays for the same service. Radford said at an emergency room, patients have to pay for both the doctor and the hospital, which drives up the price. He said the basic costs at Five Star begin at $110, depending on the services required.

All patients receive a follow-up call within 72 hours of their visit, and, if authorized, the patient's primary care provider is notified of the visit and of Five Star's clinical findings. Prescriptions are sent electronically to pharmacies.

''Five Star Urgent Care offers the Jamestown area with greater access, more efficient, more affordable, better coordinated, high quality urgent medical care in the region for non-life-threatening medical needs,'' Radford said.

Five Star is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call 489-3144.
