The founder of Podiatric Surgical Associates of Northwestern Pennsylvania now has a Jamestown office.

Dr. John H. Susz is a podiatric surgeon who provides medical and surgical treatments for all foot and ankle conditions, as well as comprehensive wound care. Originally from Buffalo, Susz now lives in Warren, Pa. In January, Susz joined the practice of Dr. Charles Mistretta, which is located at 23 Ivy St., Jamestown. He will have office hours in Jamestown on Tuesday and Friday.

''I have a focus or scope on doing wound care for feet in New York,'' Susz said. ''With wound care you get to see the improvement. You actually get to see people getting better. With advancements in technology, now you get to see them get better a lot quicker.''

Susz is an associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and board eligible with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Buffalo State College and completed his doctorate at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, an affiliate of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.

Susz said one of his accomplishments he is most proud of is being the first in his family to finish a graduate degree.

Susz completed his three-year surgical residency program with a focus on treating foot and ankle disorders with surgical and medical means. He has an academic interest in diabetic wound care, limb salvage and heel pain treatments, and is dedicated to provide comprehensive foot and ankle care to all of his patients.

''I enjoy the patient interaction. Getting to know people and being able to provide them care,'' he said. ''I don't push people into surgery. I exhaust all possible medical measures before that.''

Susz makes himself available for lectures to civic and community groups to discuss topics that relate to the lower extremity. He said he will be giving a lecture at Chautauqua Physical Therapy, located in the Riverwalk Center in Brooklyn Square, in April.

Susz enjoys spending time with his wife, Denise, and two young children, John Joseph and Jessica, and is an avid all-terrain vehicle enthusiast.

Susz also has office locations in Bradford, Pa., and Russell, Pa.
