The James Prendergast Library will offer several new classes beginning Monday with support from the New York state Library's Adult Literacy Library Services grant program.
Courses designed to help area residents enhance their job and computer skills are offered in cooperation with Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES. Instruction is free and open to the public.
Sections of "Let's Start with Computers" will begin on Monday March 19 and continue May 7 and June 11. Students meet for six two-hour sessions from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Instructor Kathy Colver from Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES, works with Mike Koplick, a 90-year-old computer student at Prendergast Library, where she will teach new grant-funded classes.

It covers computer terms, shut down procedures, use of a mouse, creating and editing a Word document, saving to different computer drives, and basic Internet and email skills. Students also learn to cut, copy and paste, and they create their own certificate of completion.
