Harold J. Colvenback, 80, of Lamberton Road, Fredonia, died Saturday evening, March 3, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Dunkirk, on April 2, 1931, the son of the late Albert and Margaret (Kuhfus) Colvenback. He was a resident of Lamberton Road for the past 10 years. Mr. Colvenback had formerly owned and operated the family grape farm on Berry Road from 1969-2002. He was also a retired employee of True Temper. He was an avid bowler, bowling at Lucky Lanes, Vineyard Lanes and the Red Dot Bowling Alley. He was also a member of the West Portland Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sue (Myers) Colvenback, whom he married June 13, 1970; three sons: Dennis J. Colvenback of Kennedy, Larry J. (Wanda) Colvenback of Mayville, and Brian S. (Nancy) Colvenback of Fredonia; three daughters: Linda L. (Elmer) Odell of Sandusky, Ohio, Barbara L. Adkins of Fredonia, and Diane E. (Alan) Lanz of Orlando, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Colvenback, and his sister, Dorothy Fisher.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, March 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. from the West Portland Baptist Church. Pastor Ryan Grafton and Pastor Gary Henry will officiate. Interment will follow at the Portland Evergreen Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, and at the West Portland Baptist Church on Thursday, March 8, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
The family suggests memorials be made to the West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 W. Main Road, Westfield, NY 14787. Arrangements were made by the Morse Funeral Home, Brocton, N.Y.
