OLEAN - As part of the company's 50th anniversary, Kohl's Department Stores is opening eight new stores, including one in Olean.
On Wednesday, the new Kohl's will open with a grand opening celebration. The opening of the Olean Kohl's creates 130 jobs.

The Olean store is the 51st Kohl's to open in New York and is located at 400 North Union St. in the Olean Center Mall, in the former location of Steve & Barry's.

All new Kohl's stores opening this spring feature innovative store designs and new enhancements.
The Olean Kohl's will feature redesigned beauty, juniors, intimates, jewelry, children's, footwear and home departments; new fitting rooms with lounge areas in misses and juniors; new designed shopping carts and strollers; updated check-out stations; customer service located at Kohl's mall entrance, two in-store kiosks; and electronic signs in all departments.
In addition, the Olean store's environmentally responsible attributes include waste management to recycle construction materials; occupancy sensor lighting for stockrooms, dressing rooms, break rooms and offices; energy management systems to control heating and cooling systems; and a recycling program for cardboard boxes, hangers and packaging.
Ms. Kelbe said Olean made business sense as a new location for a Kohl's Department Store.
''Kohl's has been very deliberate in its growth strategy, and we are careful to select locations that are adjacent to or near cities and towns we are familiar with through current store locations,'' she said.
Based in Menomonee Falls, Wis., Kohl's is a specialty department store offering exclusive and national brand apparel, shoes, accessories, beauty and home products.
