Poland Seniors Schedule Potluck Lunch

The Town of Poland Senior Citizens will meet for a potluck lunch on Wednesday, March 21, in the Kennedy Fire Hall. Seniors attending should take a dish to pass and their table service. Jim and Joyce Beithtol, Cliff and Liz Barnes and Shirley Schauers are the committee.

Fifty-five seniors attended a recent lunch meeting. Eva Baker, president, led table grace, called tables and the meeting to order with a flag salute and song, accompanied on piano by Lou Ball. Reports by the secretary and treasurer were given. A moment of silence was held for deceased members

Discussion was on the Tuesday, April 24, trip to Hidden Valley Animal Farm, High Sheldon Wind Farm and Marilla Country Store. Reservations and payment must be made by March 21; contact Sally Canniff at 358-4978. Ms. Canniff also spoke on other future trips including the Amish Experience in Middlefield, Ohio, on June 12; Seneca Lake Cruises on Aug. 14; and the Diva and The Italian Guy Cabaret Show on Oct. 2.

Celebrating birthdays were Terry Lincoln, Nancy Burchett, Art Patchen, Eva Baker Ruth McKinley, Jean Ormond and Cliff Barnes. Anniversaries included Fred and Nancy Shelters, 53 years; Frank and Mary Walker, 62 years, Art and Sally Patchen, 59 years and Paul and Helen Burch, 60 years.

Entertainment was provided by John and Betty Lou Cheney who gave a history of the Bemus Point Ferry, which originated in 1806. A question-and-answer period followed.
