Chess Tournament Starts Today

The Jamestown Chess Club will start the Jamestown City Chess Championship today. Registration will be from 4:30 to 5 p.m. at the Jamestown YMCA. with the first match starting at 5 p.m. The time limit will be Game/90 per player. The entry fee is $10 or $5 for juniors with plaques awarded for the champion and booster champion. The defending champion is Daniel Miraglia. U.S. Chess membership is required, though the organization has new introduction memberships available for new players.

Helping Hands Bag Sale Starts?Tuesday

Community Helping Hands will hold its monthly bag sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, through Friday, March 9, and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 10. Bags will cost $1. New items are added every day. Community Helping Hands will also hold its Easter Shop soon. Community Helping Hands is located in the Gateway Center, 31 Water St., Jamestown. History Center Needs Pictures

The Fenton History Center is looking for copies of images of the Fenton Park property before the urban renewal projects that changed Brooklyn Square in the 1960s. Anyone with photographs or personal recollections of the property at that time can call Joni Blackman, Fenton History Center director, at 664-6256.

JHS?Musical To Host Breakfast

Jamestown High School will host a breakfast with members of this year's musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella," at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First Covenant Church. All children will receive crowns and a photo with Cinderella characters. Tickets for children under 10 are $5 and adult tickets are $7.50. Weather permitting, horse-drawn carriage rides will be available for an extra fee. To make reservations, call the Reg Lenna Box Office at 484-7070. Performances of "Cinderella" will be held at the Red Lenna Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, March 22-23, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24. Tickets are $8 for festival seating. To purchase tickets, call the Reg Lenna Civic Center box office at 484-7070.

County Planning Board To Meet

MAYVILLE - The Chautauqua County Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Gerace Office Building, Room 331, 7 N. Erie St., Mayville. For more information, call the Chautauqua County Planning Department at 661-8910.

Panama To Host 11th Grade Night

PANAMA - The Panama Central School Guidance and Counseling Department will host an 11th Grade Parents and Students Night at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the high school library. Items to be covered will be career selection, college selection, the college application process, SAT and ACT testing and financial aid. Sewer Board To Meet Tuesday

The South and Center Chautauqua Lake Sewer Districts administrative board will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Water Pollution Control Facility in Celoron. The public is welcome to attend.
